Once There Was A Love

When you fall in love, it’s natural to feel that it’s pure, it’s genuine, and it’s meant to last. Love is both magical and mystical, and nothing could ever destroy something that’s so perfect.

Once there was a love.
Deeper than any ocean
Once there was a love
Filled with such devotion.
It was yours and mine.

As the feeling is beyond description, you’d want to keep it strong and alive. Unfortunately, like many other things, love can fade and disappear. It takes only one mistake, an indiscretion, an encounter, and everything can change.

To hold and cherish
And to keep for a life time.
Then you went away
On that lonely day

When love turns sour, it’s easy to lose your way. At times, you even end up blaming yourself, often entertaining thoughts that what happened was entirely your fault.

Now I don’t know how I can go on
Somehow I feel so all alone.
Wondering where I’ve gone wrong.

In the end, we realize that our love may have been beautiful and great, but it can come only but once. It can never be repeated, unlike history, because a love that is true happens only once in a lifetime.

Once there was a love
That will never come again
So let’s not pretend.
Once there was a love
But that was long ago.

Born blind due to congenital glaucoma, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Jose Feliciano learned to play the accordion by himself when he was nine. He followed up on this feat two years later by teaching himself to play the guitar for which he gained global prominence during the 70’s and 80’s.

Feliciano co-wrote the song “Once There Was A Love” with Rick Jarrard. It formed part of the singer’s Fireworks album which was released in May 1970.
