People Are Strange

When people see you as different, you see them the same way. When you’re alone, they even look worse.

When you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you’re alone

In the streets, the pavement is rough and uneven. People you meet look at you with weird eyes. Even women don’t want anything to do with you, and you get this uncomfortably sick sinking feeling..

Women seem wicked
When you’re unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you’re down

When you’re unlike everybody else, things pop out of your imagination that only you can see. For that, people make fun of you, laughing behind your back or cursing you for keeping to yourself. Yet, in spite of all these, they can’t recall your name.

When you’re strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you’re strange
No one remembers your name
When you’re strange

Originally recorded by The Doors in 1967, “People Are Strange” is part of the rock band’s second album Strange Days. The song placed at 12th position in Billboard’s Hot 100 and was written by the late Jim Morrison, the group’s lead vocalist.

Two decades later, “People Are Strange” was used as the soundtrack for the movie “The Lost Boys”. The British band Echo & the Bunnymen covered the song which hit the 29th spot in the UK Singles Chart.
