When Love is Gone

Love has this strange and at times sarcastic way of telling us that she has walked out of our lives. We step outside and all we see are people holding hands as they walk by, with warm smiles on their lips and joy gleaming in their eyes.

When love is gone everyone’s in couples
As I walk alone thinkin’ I’ll never find another love
Never know the beauty of

We imagine ourselves in their places, back in the days when love was in our arms. We dream of the things that we shared together and of the things we planned to do in the future.

When love is gone I always get the feeling
I can’t go on find myself dreamin’ of things
That could’ve been and all the things
We never say,

Sadly, love is not always good because it can also be cruel; by gifting us with ecstasy, she has also set us up for untold heartache. We are never the same afterwards as we come to doubt if we can still face tomorrow even after we have chased the pain away. After all is said and done, we still think of the love that walked out the door.

Oh when love is gone will it ever be the same
Will I go on chasing heartaches and learn to face the day
When I have done what I must do oohh oh,
I’ll remember you

If love has let you down, don’t ask why. That has always been her nature. Jim Photoglo said it aptly in the song “When Love is Gone.” Listen here:

Singer-songwriter James “Jim” G. Photoglo performed “When Love is Gone” which was released as a single in 1980. In some of his performances, Jim referred to himself simply as “Photoglo”.

After “When Love is Gone”, Jim came up with several other songs in the early 80s, including “Old Photographs”, “Will of the Wind”, “We Were Meant to be Lovers”, and “Fool in Love With You”. The last two captured the 31st and 25th spots respectively in the Billboard music charts.

From pop songs, Jim turned to country music where he became a successful songwriter. He wrote songs for musicians like Garth Brooks, Dusty Springfield, Faith Hill, and The Everly Brothers, just to name a few.
