Life is a journey and as we go through this journey, we get to see different places, meet lots of people, and experience both the beauty and the pain of living. Through all of these, we wonder what happens next even as we continue to wander.
I’ve been wandering early late
From New York City to the Golden Gate
And it don’t look like
I’ll ever stop my wandering
We begin with simple but beautiful things. There’s a good provider that we call our father, and family members who work hard to keep us all together.
My daddy was an engineer
My brother drives a hack
My sister takes in laundry
While the baby balls the jack
As we grow up, we try out different jobs just to survive. Yet, at the end of the day, we find that we have not accomplished anything nor do we have anything to show.
I’ve been in the army
I’ve worked on a farm
And all I’ve got to show
Is the muscle in my arm
Then life gives us a hard and unexpected blow. We suddenly find ourselves lost, but fate becomes a ruthless host, and decides to gift us with more pain.
My ma she died
When I was young
My daddy took to stealing
And he got hung
We find solace and comfort in the arms of a caring stranger. However, like a hiding snake in an innocent field of grass, deception strikes when we are at our most vulnerable.
Snakes in the ocean
Eels in the sea
I let a redheaded woman
Make a fool out of me
In the end, we realize that our wondering never ends. We will continue to wonder and wander in life until we find that which will make us truly and eternally happy. As to when that will happen, no one can really say, and so, our wandering goes on.
I’ve been wandering early and late
From the New York City to the Golden Gate
And it don’t look like
I’ll ever stop my wandering
No, it don’t look like
I’ll ever stop my wandering
