Even Now

They say that we all have that one great love, the one that we can never really forget. Even as we have learned to move on and have managed to find a new love, every now and then, we still remember that one unfogettable someone with great fondness and longing.

Even now, when there’s someone else who cares
When there’s someone home who’s waiting just for me
Even now I think about you as I’m climbing up the stairs
And I wonder what to do so she won’t see

We recall both the good times and the bad and even those that came in between. We especially remember the love that was shared and celebrated even if at times we felt that not eveything was in order.

That even now, when I know it wasn’t right
And I found a better life than what we had
Even now I wake up crying in the middle of the night
And I can’t believe it still could hurt so bad

We remember the name and how unique and special it was to us even as we hardly ever hear it being mentioned nowadays. Then the pain comes back in ever so slowly, reminding us not to forget the feeling that was once so beautiful but came to an unexpected end.

Even now, when I never hear your name
And the world has changed so much since you’ve been gone
Even now I still remember and the feeling’s still the same
And this pain inside of me goes on and on
Even now

We may have found happiness in another’s arms with life even gifting us with success in our chosen field; yet, we feel this unexplained emptiness. That’s when we realize that what have right now could no longer be shared with our past. Even more painful is the truth that at one point in our past, we already had a future but we chose to let it slip away.

Even now, when I have come so far
I wonder where you are
I wonder why it’s still so hard without you
Even now, when I come shinin’ through
I swear I think of you
And God I wish you knew
