Did you know that in the US and in several other countries, a typical wedding ceremony is usually completed in 25 minutes or less? This became the basis for this song by the Danish soft rock singing group Michael Learns To Rock.
Released in early 1994, “25 Minutes” is a beautiful song but also one that has a tragic meesage. It talks about a man who had several loves during his lifetime. Eventually, however, he realized that of all the women he has loved, there was one who stood out from the rest.
After some time
I’ve finally made up my mind
She is the girl
And I really want to make her mine
The man went out to look for the one who got away. He searched far and wide but he could not find her.
I’m searching everywhere
To find her again
To tell her I love her
And I’m sorry ’bout the things I’ve done
Finally, the man came upon his girl. Unfortunaely, he found her in the one place where he never thought of looking.
I find her standing in front of the church
The only place in town where I didn’t search
She looks so happy in her wedding dress
The song goes on to say that the man arrived in church 25 minutes after the girl said “I do” to another man. Had her arrived much earlier, the ending of the story wouuld have been totally different. But then again, “25 Minutes” would not be the song that we have come to learn and love.
Boy I missed your kisses all the time but this is
Twenty five minutes too late
Though you travelled so far boy I’m sorry you are
Twenty five minutes too late
Have you found that special girl but found her just a little too late? Let “25 Minutes” help you reminisce here:
