Goodbye

Many will probably not admit it, but love is often not enough to keep two people together. A myriad of factors will almost always come into play when trying to keep a relationship going. When that happens, disappointments can set in and we find ourselves asking for a way out.

I can see the pain living in your eyes
And I know how hard you try
You deserve to have so much more

We shrug off the thought of a break-up, believing that if we try hard enough, things can still work out fine. Still, when we look into their eyes, we only see desperation. That’s when we realize that we should not hold people back because everyone akways deserves something better.

I don’t want to let you down
I don’t want to lead you on
I don’t want to hold you back
From where you might belong

Unfortunately, letting go of the one we love is never easy. At times, we even come to think of ourselves as unworthy of love, but seeing that love walk away is simply not an option because of the pain that it will inevitably bring.

You deserve the chance
At the kind of love
I’m not sure I’m worthy of
Losing you is painful to me

We end up living a lie and wear a heart full of disguise in the hope that it will keep the love alive. But in the end, it will never hold, especially when tears have overtaken the laughter. A heart without love will long to be free, and will seek that freedom even if it means inviting pain in the process.

You would never ask me why
My heart is so disguised
I just can’t live a lie anymore
I would rather hurt myself
Than to ever make you cry
There’s nothing left to say
But goodbye
