I Go Crazy

Learning to laugh and smile is often a sign that you have moved on from the pain of a breakup. It means that after a while, you have learned to let go and are ready to face the future.

Hello girl it’s been awhile
Guess you’ll be glad to know
That I’ve learned how to laugh and smile

Getting over a heartache is never easy. Often, it’s a long and painful process. Yet, in time, life has a strange way of turning lovers into friends.

Getting over you was slow
They say old lovers can be good friends
But I never thought I’d really see you

Eventually, you realize that part of the problem was your fault. You were too naive or too blind, maybe even a little of both. Either way, you get to admit your mistakes and start to rebuild your life, or so you thought.

I realize that I was blind
Just when I thought I was over you
I see your face and it just ain’t true
No it just ain’t true

Yes, just when you thought you have recovered from the pain, life puts you to the test. That’s when you get to face the hard truth that while your mind may have made the decision to forget the past, your heart is just not ready, and would rather keep the feelings alive. Even if it meant continuing to deal with the pain that never goes away.

I go crazy
You know when I look in your eyes I go crazy
No my heart just can’t hide that old feelin’ inside
Way deep down inside
I go crazy

Singer-songwriter Paul Davis composed, wrote, and recorded “I Go Crazy” in 1977, released as the first single from his album “Singer of Songs: Teller of Tales.” The song captured the 7th spot in Billboard’s Hot 100 and stayed in the charts for a total of nine months.

‘I Go Crazy” was Davis’ second pop chart hit, the first being “65 Love Affair” in the 60s which landed at number 6 in Billboard. The singer passed away in 2008 after suffering from a heart attack, just a day after turning 60 years old.
