When a heart gets broken, the immediate question that we usually ask is, how do we repair it? For many of us, we often find ourselves yearning for the time when we were still young, the days when life was simpler and our dreams were promising even as they were naive.
I can think of younger days
When living for my life
Was everything a man
Could want to do
With the pain becoming unbearable, we reminisce about times past so we can get by. We wonder where those days went to and why they had to leave us.
I can still feel the breeze
That rustles through the trees
And misty memories
Of days gone by
Loneliness becomes one with us. In desperation, we think of the people who guided and helped us and wonder why they never told us of the sorrow that comes when love reveals her unpleasant side.
We could never see tomorrow,
No one said a word
About the sorrow
So how do you mend a broken heart? Is it as impossible as asking the sun to stop shining or begging the clouds to stop moving so they will not produce the rain? With love refusing to be by our side, we even ask why the world around us continues to turn.
And how can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go round?
We begin seeing ourselves as losers in this game called life. Frail, broken, and lost, we look for a helping hand that seems so hard to find. Yet, we continue to hope that help will come because it’s only when the heart becomes whole that we are able to live again.
How can you mend a this broken man?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart
And let me live again
