When a relationship ends, we often find ourselves changing a lot of things, especially the things that we used to share with the one we loved.
Gotta change my answering machinef
Now that I’m alone
‘Cause right now, it says that we
Can’t come to the phone
And I know it makes no sense
‘Cause you walked out the door
We stop marking dates on the calendar, especially the days we consider special. Doing so helps us forget and allows us to move on.
Gotta fix that calendar I have
That’s marked July 15th
Because since there’s no more you
There’s no more anniversary
Most importantly, we try to change our listening habits. From our all-time favorite love songs, we opt for alternative genres; otherwise, we just turn off the radio for its penchant for playing love songs which we suddenly find too depressive.
I’m so fed up with my thoughts of you
And your memory
And how every song reminds me
Of what used to be
Yet, we also see the radio as our friend. Every love song it plays keeps the memory alive. The singer’s voice becomes the voice of the one who used to make us laugh. Consciously, we want to move on, but in our hearts, we don’t want to change a thing even if it meant crying those enfless tears.
But it’s the only way I hear your voice anymore
It’s ridiculous
It’s been months
And for some reason I just
Can’t get over us
It eventually comes to the point when we get so sick of hearing love songs and we just want everything to stop. It’s because everything is different now and we have to face the sad truth. Strangely, turning off that radio is something we just can’t do because it’s the one thing that keeps us alive.
And I’m so sick of love songs
So tired of tears
So done with wishing
You were still here
Said, I’m so sick of love songs
So sad and slow
So why can’t I turn off the radio?
