Many years ago, back when love never bothered to look for me, my life was one perfect routine. It revolved mainly around home, to work, then back to home. It may come off as boring to many people, but for me, it seemed perfect. No fancy social life, no momentous occasions to celebrate, no woman to care for. It was a simple, but pure and clean existence.
My life is brilliant
My life is brilliant
My love is pure
As a PWD (person with disability), this kind of life was somehow acceptable. I was free, hold a stable job, and pretty much safe from the dangers of this world. However, fate can also play tricks on people like me. It came in the form of a beautiful girl I encountered one late afternoon on my way home.
I saw an angel
Of that I’m sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
Amidst a sea of commuters aboard a crowded train, she caught my attention. As she turned her head, her brown eyes met mine. It was a stare that lasted only for a few seconds but it felt like eternity. She moved to turn away from the gaze, but before she did, I saw a faint smile from her soft red-lined lips.
You’re beautiful
You’re beautiful, it’s true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I don’t know what to do
A strong hand reached out for her slender shoulder. Instinctively, she placed her head on the broad shoulder of this man she was with. From there, she looked at me again, her eyes slightly tinged with unmistakeable sadness.
She could see from my face that I was
Fuckin’ high
And I don’t think that I’ll see her again
But we shared a moment that will last ’til the end
At the next stop, she got off the train along with her man. I watched as they both walked towards the stairs leading to the street below. She never looked back and did not see me smile, not really at her and her beauty, but at that brief and fleeting moment when love finally gave me her time and attention.
You’re beautiful, it’s true
There must be an angel with a smile on her face
When she thought up that I should be with you
But it’s time to face the truth
I will never be with you
