Hero

This song goes out to everyone affected by the great pandemic that has changed the way we have lived prior to its existence. Our beloved frontliners are specially mentioned, but “Hero” is also for those who were able to find the strength to face and overcome the challenge.

There’s a hero
If you look inside your heart
You don’t have to be afraid
Of what you are

When problems come, it’s easy to get lost. Oten, we find that we are helpless, but if we stay still and pray in silence, we can find the answer that we are looking for.

There’s an answer
If you reach into your soul
And the sorrow that you know
Will melt away

We all travel a long and at times, lonely road where we feel that nobody is willing to extend a helping hand. When you feel this way, try to reach from within, to that inner being where love is always abundant.

You can find love
If you search within yourself
And the emptiness you felt
Will disappear

A hero dwells in all of us and all we need to do is to be strong in casting away our fears. Let the hero inside come out and you’ll eventually discover that hope never really runs out, especially for those who believe.

So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you’ll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you

In need of strength and inspiration? Let the words from “Hero” bring these to you. Listen here now:

Released in 1993 as the second song from the album Music Box, “Hero” is seen by many as Mariah Carey’s signature song. It captured the top spot in Billboard’s Hot 100, the eighth for Mariah, and has since been used as the closing number in many of her concerts.

Interestingly, while Mariah co-wrote and produced “Hero” with Walter Afanasieff, she wanted Gloria Estefan to record it. Mariah was initially unable to connect to the style of the song, but after changes were made to the lyrics , Mariah eventually realized that “Hero” is one song that truly fit her character.
