Somewhere Down the Road

Sometimes, just when you think everything is going well, fate will step in and rain on your parade. When it happens, what should you do? Would you try to hold on to that which you treasure most? Or is letting go the wiser move to take?

Guess I always knew inside
I wouldn’t have you for a long time
Those dreams of yours
Are shining on distant shores
And if they’re calling you away
I have no right to make you stay

Saying goodbye is something we all hate simply because it involves pain. Yet, in some strange ways, goodbye is at times, only a temporary thing. Eventually, we come to that point when we begin to understand why things had to happen.

I understand more than you think I can
You have to go out on your own
So you can find your way back home

The beauty with goodbye is that it opens up opportunities for people to meet again in the future. Yes, the pain of losing someone is real, but life has always been known to come up with a few pleasant surprises. This can include the possibility of seeing the one we love just one more time in the future.

But somewhere down the road
Our roads are gonna cross again
It doesn’t really matter when

There’s an old adage that says “if you love someone, set her free. If she comes back to you, she’s yours forever. If not, then she was never yours in the first place”.

But somewhere down the road
I know that heart of yours
Will come to see
That you belong with me

Let Barry Manilow calm your troubled heart. Listen to “Somewhere Down the Road” here:

Recorded by Barry Manilow in 1981, “Somewhere Down the Road” is from his album If I Should Love Again. The song topped Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart in 1982. Prior to this, it placed 21st in the Hot 100 category.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Nothing in this world is ever permanent. Everything changes and this includes putting this blog on hold for now.

To those who have followed me in this music journey, thank you but at this point in time, the journey will have to come to a stop. I need to attend to several personal and financial concerns.

Still, as Barry Manilow declared in his song, “…maybe we’ve only just begun, maybe the best is yet to come”.
