Lines of a Song Volume 9

A road can mean many things to different people. Some roads can lead you to everlasting bliss. Others will leave you lost and confused. Some will lead you to love while others can only bring you pain.

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me, and I walk alone

“Boulevard of Broken Dreams” – Green Day

And still they lead me back to the long and winding road
You left me standing here a long, long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here
Lead me to you door

“The Long and Winding Road” – The Beatles

Never knew that it would go so far
When you left me on that boulevard
Come again you would release my pain
And we could be lovers again

“Boulevard” – Dan Byrd

In 2004, the rock group Green Day struck gold when they came up with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”, released as the fourth single from their album American Idiot. The song won Video of the Year from MTV and Record of the Year from the Grammys, a feat yet to be matched. It has also sold more than 2 million US copies as of 2010.

“The Long and Winding Road” is the last song of the iconic band The Beatles released about a month after the group’s celebrated break-up. It was part of the 1970 allbum Let It Be and hit number one in Billboard’s Hot 100, the 20th and the last chart topper for The Beatles.

Belgian singer Dan Byrd is the voice behind “Boulevard”. The song was released in 1984 and was part of Byrd’s album Stay.
