Bluer Than Blue

Have you ever thought about the benefits of being on your own? When the one you love suddenly decides to leave and start a new life without you, think of all the good things this can bring you.

After you go, I can catch up on my reading
After you go, I’ll have a lot more time for sleeping
And when you’re gone, looks like things are gonna be a lot easier
Life will be a breeze

When she’s gone, you can watch TV anytime with full and complete control of the remote. If you need company, you can invite friends over and start a party. If you’re not excited about doing anything, you can sit down and be lazy all day long and no one will ever bother.

I don’t have to miss no TV shows
I can start my whole life over

After you go, I’ll have a lot more room in my closet
After you go, I’ll stay out all night long if I feel like it
And when you’re gone I can run through the house screaming
And no one will ever hear me

When you’ve had your fill of fun and laughter. the bed is ready to welcome you any time of the day. Lying down all alone, however, will you not miss her warm embraces, especially on cold and lonely nights? When you enter the room to seek comfort and rest, can you handle the truth that the only thing waiting for you inside is emptiness?

I really should be glad
But I’m bluer than blue, sadder than sad
You’re the only light this empty room has ever had
Life without you is gonna be
Bluer than blue

Loneliness is never a bad thing, but few people will actually welcome it. Listen to what Michael Johnson has to say about it here:

“Bluer Than Blue” was the lead track from The Michael Johnson album released in 1978. The song was Johnson’s best-selling single, climbing to the top of the Easy Listening chart in the Adult Contemporary division and retaining the position for three weeks.

In Billboard’s Hot 100, “Bluer Than Blue” was ranked at 12th place. The song has since become a favorite 70s single that continues to be played on selected radio stations.

On a sad note, Michael Johnson, accomplished guitarist, folk, pop, and country singer-songwriter, passed away two years ago. The details are unclear but Johnson, in his many live shows, mentioned emphysema as a lingering illness even as he went through a quadruple bypass heart surgery sometime in 2007. Suffice to say that Johnson is now at peace.
