Christmas has always been known as the most joyous of all occasions. Yet, this is not the case with some people, especially those who had their hearts broken during the holiday season. The experience is naturally painful and often leaves bitter memories of Christmas.
The British pop duo Wham! with the late George Michael on vocals expressed the exact same feelings when they sang “Last Christmas”. The song tells the story of a man in love with a girl who broke his heart during Christmas.
Being in love is always a beautiful thing regardless of the season. Christmas though can make the feeling extra special.
Sadly, not everyone takes love seriously and sees the heart as merely a toy that they can play around with. The pain that this inevitably brings is unexpected but becomes especially unbearable when it comes during the Christmas season.
Is it fair to get your heart broken in the midst of the Christmas celebration? The answer is no, but at least there’s a song like “Last Christmas that can help ease the pain and allow you to somehow move on.
